Reunion, Success Stories and Fond Farewells [News – February 2025]

A Happy Reunion With TAL Alumni, Wally

You may remember the story of one of our rescues, Wally, the starving puppy who ate rocks. He paid his former foster mom, Mary, and her family a visit recently and, my goodness, we were stunned at what a handsome pup he has become. He is now 50 pounds heavier than when first rescued by The Animal League about a year ago! We are told that Wally worked the room, getting lots of loving, and those big grins from both Wally and Mary say it all. We can’t help but smile along with them! His awesome new parents love him so much and, as you can see for yourselves, he is absolutely thriving under their care.

Wally, a 77lb Boxer Blend, receives cuddles from his former foster mom.

We are indebted to Mary and all our paw-some foster parents who make success stories like Wally possible. We can’t do it without you and are always in need of new volunteers. If you have ever thought you might like to give it a go, check out our Foster page for more information.

hip surgery Success for Eden

Eden and The Animal League team both send MANY heartfelt thanks to all of those that donated towards her hip surgery, which she had back in December. She is doing GREAT! Her paw-some foster is helping her with her daily physical therapy and controlled activity and walks, per the doctor’s orders. We are told she is being a very good patient and is now ready for her fur-ever home! She needs a family that is willing to continue her therapy with her and diligently help her with the last phases of her recovery. She is a sweet and lovable gal who enjoys the company of other friendly doggies.

Without your support, we could not do what we do best. THANK YOU for your generosity and well wishes. We so appreciate you!

Update February 10, 2025: A perfect match has now been found and Eden is off to her forever home. Hurray!

Mom of 11 pups, Fiona, is Thriving

This resilient mama has been through so much, but you’d never guess it from her sweet, joyful spirit. When Fiona arrived at our door with her 11 (yes 11!) puppies, she was dangerously thin and barely able to stand. But just a few months later, she’s a whole new dog—prancing around the office, soaking up love from everyone she meets.

Every day, Fiona grows stronger and healthier, and while she still has some recovering to do, she’s truly thriving. She is an 8yr old Labrador Retriever blend and weighs about 55 pounds. She’s incredibly well-behaved, deeply appreciative, and always wearing a big, happy smile. It’s not uncommon to find her flopped on her side, basking in belly rubs from multiple admirers at once. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will cherish every moment by your side, Fiona is ready to fill your home with warmth and love. She is a Forever Hope reduced-fee pet.

Fond Farewells to Two long-term residents

Tabby cats, Annandale and Ballantine, peep out from their fleecy igloo bed.

Our prayers for a Christmas miracle were answered when long-time residents, ANNANDALE and BALLANTINE found their forever home together! They are a pair of one-year-old sisters who have been slowly finding their confidence, and now have loving parents with the patience and understanding that they need. We wish them a long and happy life together.

Blizzard, a German Shepherd blend, receives cuddles from his new parents as they collect him from The Animal League.

BLIZZARD was with us for over 1 year whilst she patiently waited for a family to play with and nurture her natural curiosity. Hurray!!!! She now has her fur-ever home!

In recent months we have had many, many more of our animals successfully find their forever loving homes, including 8 of Fiona’s 11 puppies. If you have room in your heart and home for any of our pets currently available for adoption, please complete an adoption application so that a Meet & Greet can be scheduled. We are so grateful for the many ways you help and support us. THANK YOU!
