When cats and dogs arrive at The Animal League, we can never be quite sure how they will respond, how their life experiences have affected them or what hidden talents they may possess. From depressed to aggressive and introverted to extroverted, we’ve seen it all. Only after giving each of them the love, care, medical treatment and stability that they need, can they really start to shine and show their true selves.
Art has longtime been an outlet for self-expression, so we thought, “Why not let our dogs have the opportunity to do some painting?”, and what do you know? Some of our pups seem to be talented artists! We applied paint to canvases, sealed them in plastic, and our creative furry friends couldn’t wait to lick, nose and paw their designs into existence. Their unique masterpieces capture their playful natures, and are delightful reminders of the joy they bring into our lives.

Coconut is a sweet 6-year-old female Chihuahua blend looking for a home where she can be the star of the show! This little lady is full of love and adores attention. She’s affectionate, enjoys spending time with her people, and isn’t shy about letting you know exactly how she feels. One of her favorite pastimes is cuddling up with her soft toys.
Dottie
Dottie is a very sweet little lady who loves to zoom around and have fun. She absolutely loves her toys and can keep herself entertained, but is just as happy being right by your side. She’s a total cuddlebug who will gladly shower you with kisses. Her favorite place to be is curled up in your lap soaking up belly rubs.
Poppy
This beautiful 2-year-old, 40-pound Terrier mix is bursting with personality, brains, and playful energy. Poppy is happiest when she’s on the move, especially when there’s a pool involved! She can be a little shy when you first meet her, but once she gets comfortable, her friendly and lovable personality comes shining through.
Harlow
Harlow is a 1-year-old English Springer Spaniel & Australian Shepherd Mix. She’s affectionate, funny, friendly and smart, and also likes to show off her playful and athletic nature.
Elliott
Elliott is a 4-month-old gentleman with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This happy-go-lucky pup is affectionate, playful, gentle, and always ready to make a new friend. He is the perfect mix of professional cuddler and playful sidekick. He loves soaking up attention and snuggling close, but he’s just as happy playing, exploring, and showing off his silly puppy personality.
We are having a rather crazy time here at The Animal League, where busy is an understatement, but seeing dogs and cats successfully rescued, nursed back to health and finding their happy places again makes every minute of it worthwhile.
