[Update: October 6, 2025]
Dear Friends,
With a heavy heart we must update you on little Princess the starved chihuahua. Let us all remember her as in this photo – safe, warm and loved.
As you are aware, our rescue goes above and beyond for every pet who comes into our care. Despite all of our efforts, Princess went into respiratory failure at the emergency vet yesterday. Even the oxygen tank she was in was not providing any improvement. She simply had too much wrong with her little body. Our sweet girl was humanely euthanized while being held by her dear foster mom Ginny and peacefully passed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Thank you to everyone who generously donated to her care and for all of your prayers. You truly make a difference in helping us to do all we can to save these sweet homeless pets.
We could not have helped this Princess without each and every one of you donating to our Sunshine Fund. This fund provides us with the lifesaving funds needed for the medical bills of the pets that come to us in great need. Surgeries and special care for just one of these pets often reaches thousands of dollars.
Thank you to Carol, and to retired nurse Ginny and her husband Frank, for giving her so much care and support in her last days. She knew she was finally loved.
Thank you to Michelle for making us aware of her need of rescue and to our staff and Dr. S, who worked compassionately to provide comfort for her as they tried to heal her little body.
Sweet Princess was loved.

Transcript:
A tiny stray picked up by a county shelter. We were asked to help. She is severely emaciated. Also very sweet! After much testing at The Animal League clinic, it was discovered that Princess has heartworms, diabetes, liver damage, cataracts, respiratory illness, mammary tumors, urinary tract infection and severe tooth decay. We are going to do everything we can to help this little girl! Please donate.
