Website The Animal League Wellness Center
The Animal League (theanimalleague.org), a reputable and well-established animal welfare organization is growing and we want YOU to be a part of it! Established in 1988, our mission is to enhance the lives of animals and people in our communities through education, awareness, adoption, and compassion. The Animal League started 28 years ago and since that time we’ve made a name for ourselves as a high quality, high impact organization serving its mission well. The Animal League is ready to take our mission to the next level through establishing an affordable wellness center located in lovely Lake County, Florida (just outside of Orlando). How did Lake County get its name? It is home to over 1,000 pristine lakes and rivers. If you love nature and the outdoors…welcome home. This is nature’s paradise, fabulous for raising a family, or living the quieter lifestyle. Lake County boasts 14 distinct municipalities, each with its own small town personality and unique historic downtown district. Dotted with art galleries, antique stores, mom and pop shops and restaurants to please every palate. Travel just a short distance and you may enjoy all Disney has to offer, or head into downtown Orlando for professional sports events (basketball and soccer), fine dining, and night life. Hop onto I-4 to Tampa for NFL and NHL too.
The Animal League Wellness Center (animalleaguewellness.org) is located in Leesburg, Florida within Lake County. We are currently providing spay/neuter services on a part-time basis but are seeking to expand our hours of operation to full time, Monday through Friday with limited hours on Saturday. Along with the time extensions we’ll expand the service offerings to wellness care, vaccinations, microchipping, and dentals. We seek a capable and compassionate veterinarian to help us with this expansion. As a growing wellness center, you’ll have a unique opportunity to help develop protocols and processes, and guide the center toward sustainable high quality pet care.
As a full-time veterinarian at The Animal Care Wellness Center, your essential duties will include:
- Performing spay/neuter surgeries.
- Performing vaccination and wellness services.
- Promoting ongoing development of medical care through continued education.
- Delegating duties and responsibilities to technical support staff to ensure proper care and comfort of hospitalized patients.
- Staying abreast of veterinary concerns and trends in the animal welfare movement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Being a part of The Animal League organization means you’ll be joining a family of sincere, hard-working, collaborative, animal-loving individuals who all work with the same goal in mind: to deliver high quality services that fulfill our mission. We seek a veterinarian with those same qualities. And, since you’ll be meeting with clients, effective communication, organization, empathy, and diagnostic trouble-shooting are also naturally required.
We prefer at least 2 years of experience as a veterinarian. However, if you are a recent graduate with a state of Florida Veterinarian license, and The Animal League’s mission and this job excites you, then let’s talk!
Required Education, License, or Certification
Must be a licensed Veterinarian in the state of Florida.

Whether you are at the beginning, middle, or nearing the end of your veterinary career, this opportunity will be rewarding beyond monetarily, as this new beautiful facility has huge potential to positively impact the animals in the community, although we do offer:
- a competitive salary to include a generous healthcare allocation
- 2 weeks of paid vacation time
